Abstract
ORTEGA CARRASCO, Rolando Júnior; VELOSO TOLEDO, Ricardo David and HANSEN, Omar Samuel. Perception and attitudes towards scientific research. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.2, pp.101-109. ISSN 2414-8938. https://doi.org/10.30545/academo.2018.jul-dic.2.
This study describes the perception and attitudes towards scientific research on behalf of the undergraduate students of seven faculties of the Universidad Nacional de Pilar in the year 2017. It is analyze from three dimensions; those are the institutional context, the quality of the training and the motivations of the student. It was adopted a quantitative approach, with an observational, cross perspective, prospective and descriptive design. For data collection, a questionnaire was applied to a representative sample, random and stratified with a total of 358 participants. The most important findings identified were; the weaknesses in the development of students' abilities to present projects in a call for proposal instances; scant involvement in scientific outreach events; slight use of scientific articles by teachers in their classes; as well as the need for greater emphasis on the teaching of the scientific method. At the institutional level, there is a lack of further promotion of the research departments, and above all, of linking research activities with students. More than 90% of the students surveyed believe that research training will contribute to their professional life, and at least 80% of them would like to participate in research seedbeds.
