The objective of this work is to characterize scientific visual communication in the research centers of the Universidad Nacional del Este. Non-experimental study, with a mixed approach. The educational researchers involved in some line of research (active), total 31, constitute the population. On the other hand, we have as units of analysis: the postgraduate theses, the scientific journals of the UNE, which date from 2011 to 2015, and the posters used in scientific communication events. It was possible to observe some cases that emerged binding ideas or referring to characteristics of the scientific image such as objectivity, pragmatism and didactic character. It was mentioned its usefulness in the interpretation of contents, the probative or documentary value, as well as its potential in the representation and schematization of information.
