Abstract

PAATS, Astrid; VAZQUEZ, Marcos  and  COLMAN, Isabel Acosta. Systemic lupus erythematosus and variable common immunodeficiency: two sides of the same coin. Rev. parag. reumatol. [online]. 2020, vol.6, n.2, pp.85-87. ISSN 2413-4341.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rpr/2020.06.02.85.

The coexistence of primary immunodeficiencies and autoimmune diseases, although contradictory, may occur in clinical practice. These cases pose an important therapeutic challenge due to the risk of infection after immunosuppressive therapy. We report the first case of SLE, lupus nephritis and common variable immunodeficiency successfully treated with cyclophosphamide and intravenous immunoglobulin, without any severe infections.

Keywords : systemic lupus erythematosus; common variable immunodeficiency.
