Abstract

CACERES ROMERO, Arami  and  MARIN DUARTE, Flavio Ramón. Education for sustainable development and the SDGs: dimensions for the Scientific Baccalaureate curriculum with emphasis on Social Sciences in Paraguay. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.3, pp.49-69. ISSN 2409-8752.  https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2023.010.03.049.

In search of education for sustainability and accompanying the necessary reforms that must be undertaken in Paraguay, the curriculum is considered a fundamental element to guide the functionality of educational policies. For this reason, ideas related to sustainable development are analyzed within the Scientific Baccalaureate curriculum with emphasis on Social Sciences of Paraguay. The documentary-type research analyzed the study programs and the general aspects that make up the curricular structure, as contextual units; In addition, the terms linked to sustainable development (environmental, economic and social) were classified by dimensions. It was concluded, based on the frequency of appearance of directly and implicitly related concepts and the qualitative analysis, that the disciplinary area of "social sciences and their technologies" is the one with the greatest presence of concepts of sustainable development, in contrast to the area of "mathematics and its technologies" that does not have any worrying concepts incorporated, showing regular or little presence in the other areas. It was also found that the prioritized dimension of the SDGs was the social one, and it was also demonstrated that the focus of the curriculum is predominantly anthropocentric.
