This article presents the relevance of reading promotion at the university level, considering that so far, the need to promote reading in childhood and adolescence has been emphasized, whereas this is not the case at the university level. The university student needs reading comprehension skills, which are based on the habit of reading. Therefore, it is necessary to promote reading among students at the university level, being the university teacher one of the main promoters. Reading promotion and reading habits are related, because when seeking to achieve better reading comprehension in students, it is necessary to stimulate the reading habit. There are several ways to promote reading. In this paper we show the case of reading promotion at the Universidad del Cono Sur de las Américas through the “Reading Club” and its excellent reception by the students.
