Abstract

DIAZ LEZCANO, Maura Isabel; SANTACRUZ SANTACRUZ, Diana Judit; RIVEROS, Ulises  and  RUIZ, Fanni. Growth of plants of black Lapacho (Handroanthus Hepthaphyllus) from seeds of three seed trees in three substrates. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2022, vol.9, n.1, pp.24-31. ISSN 2409-8752.  https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2022.009.01.024.

The objective of the research was to evaluate the growth of Handroanthus heptaphyllus (Vell.) Mattos from seed trees on different substrates. The same was carried out in the forest nursery of the Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, of the Universidad Nacional de Asunción, Paraguay. The work consisted of measuring the variables neck diameter and height of 90 plants from three seed trees and three substrates. These were distributed in 9 treatments which had 10 repetitions in each one. Seeds were extracted from seed trees located on the Campus of the 1. National University of Asunción. The substrates were constituted by agricultural land 75% + rice husk 25%, agricultural land 75% + lapacho mulch 25%, agricultural land 50% + cattle manure 50%. In the treatments constituted by the substrates cow manure and lapacho mulch, the plants presented attacks of insects (aphids) in which a natural extract constituted by garlic and cloves was used. At the end of the experimentation time, five months, the homogeneous growth was observed in all the substrates and plants from the seeds of the seed trees, maintaining the health of the plants with the application of the natural extract. According to the analysis of variance carried out, no significant differences were found in growth neither in neck diameter nor in height of the plants attributable to the seed trees and substrates tested.

Keywords : growth; neck diameter; height; natural extract.
