This research set out to identify which competencies are the most demanded by the labor market of Lima (Peru) to the architects working in this area in order to provide support to the higher training centers of the region for the design of their plans of study and give a realistic and updated overview of what the market expects from recent graduates. A statistically representative sample of architects working in the study area was surveyed in a simple random manner and the instrument used is an adaptation of similar proposals made for the Latin American context. The results revealed a consensus on the most demanded skills regardless of whether they work independently, in a private company or a public entity. On the other hand, it was found that the generic skills most demanded of architects who are dedicated to teaching presented significant differences. These differences suggest specialization studies for this group of professionals where generic and specific competences of a pedagogue are incorporated. Given the recurring nature of the events described, this research should be repeated periodically in order to find trends rather than generalizations.
