GARCETE-GALEANO, Osmar Gabriel et al. Impact of the new Free Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC). Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.3, pp.15-19. ISSN 2409-8752.  https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2021.008.03.015.

The purpose of this research project is to analyze the impact of the new Free Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC). It focused on the qualitative, non-experimental, transectional and descriptive aspects. Four interviews were conducted with experts in the areas of International Finance, International Relations, Economics and International Trade. The instrument consisted of a guide with five questions related to the research. The only inclusion criterion was to be in the areas mentioned above. The most relevant results were: 1. Existence of significant benefits for the countries involved and the region and; 2. Possibility of integration with other regional blocks through negotiations between chambers of commerce within the framework of the treaty (WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement). It is concluded that the T-MEC is a much broader treaty than NAFTA, causing a greater impact in the area of trade (exchange of goods / services and oil), in the environmental and labor areas. This impact could be at the continental level, since the benefits could drag down to the south of the continent, allowing MERCOSUR to be involved in a negotiation with the T-MEC.

Palavras-chave : T-MEC; Multilateralism; Free Trade Agreement; Tripartite; Geopolitics.
