Abstract

BAUTISTA-VALLEJO, J.M.; DUARTE DE KRUMMEL, M; HERNANDEZ-CARRERA, R.M.  and  ESPIGARES-PINAZO, M.J.. Research at the University today. Notes for educational leadership and social change. Rev. ciente. Research is an important part of the functioning of universities. The nature of universities has been linked to the need and capacity for research since their inception. This article aims to show how, in the current context, the need for research in and from the university, an essential aspect of its leadership, is posed in a framework of permanent contradictions. To this end, a selective and limited documentary review has been carried out, after listening to key informants, on a series of units of meaning or categories: debate on science and scientific research, model by competencies, role of the university researcher. The results allow us to highlight the existence of a debate on the new meanings of science, at a time of hegemony of the competence-based teaching-learning model, where the role of the lecturer-researcher is problematized.

Keywords : University; research; science; competencies.
