Abstract

ACHINELLI BAEZ, M.F.. Paraguay: Measures of corporate social responsibility and gender. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.3, pp.3-17. ISSN 2409-8752.  https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2019.006.03.003-017.

Violence against Women (VCM) is a violation of Human Rights according to the United Nations Organization. This affirmation led the member states to propose policies and programs for their eradication, through the fulfillment of gender equality and equity manifested in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). National and international organizations and the different entities of the economy joined the challenge of eradicating VAW. The companies, through the figure of the Corporate Social Responsibility, exercised their commitment from different implementations. A little explored measure is the labor and family conciliation, which in a VCM context, could empower women economically. The paper analyzed the case of Type A savings and credit cooperatives based on semi-structured interviews within the Gender Committees. The results showed that there is a work for the eradication of the VCM, making seminars and talks. However, the application of work and family reconciliation measures is low. The cooperative sector, being the main entity of the third sector in Paraguay, exerts an important influence so, a measure adopted by them in favor of women going through VAW, will have an important impact. Being gender equity and equality cooperative principles, cooperatives are the ideal entities to make visible the role of Social Responsibility of Third Sector Entities.

Keywords : VCM; Paraguay; RSE; conciliation.
