Abstract
CARBALLEA CABRERA, D.L et al. Kingsbury glass bearing designed to increase the useful life of submersible pumps. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.1, pp.33-48. ISSN 2409-8752. https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2019.006(01)033-048.
The aim of this work was to innovate the design of an axial thrust Kingsbury bearing for submersible vertical centrifugal pumps, using glass as a friction resistant material between the rotating disc and the skids, in order to increase its useful life and save energy intensity current. The exploitation parameters were determined as volumetric flow entering the skid, maximum thrust pressure and maximum load coefficient, among others. For the 124 submersible pumps tested, the results showed an average increase of 3.11 years in their useful life and an average saving of 2.5 ampere for each pump when they operated with glass bearings with respect to the conventional bearings of fabric.
