The present work was carried out at “Raúl Cepero Bonilla” Meat Company in Camagüey, Cuba, with the objective of evaluating its refrigeration system. Values for the parameters thermodynamic efficiency and COP of 3.849 and 59.86% were obtained for the compressor, respectively, which can be

considered acceptable. The daily consumption of frigorific energy was of 4 332 kW, which is reduced by 61.18% with both improvement proposals, thus implying $ 27 114.32 of annual economic savings. The investment cost of installing Armaflex insulation at refrigeration pipes ascended to $ 103 234.24, while the investment cost of installing Polyurethane insulation at refrigeration chambers had a value of $ 506 536.38. The insulation investment in refrigeration pipes is recovered in 4.7 years. Excel spreadsheets were used to carry out calculations.
