Abstract

SCHWARZ, M. Mining investment, conflict and regional poverty in Peru 2007-2017. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.2, pp.45-54. ISSN 2409-8752.  https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2018.005(02)045-054.

This research shows the complexity of the relationship between mining investment, social conflicts and levels of poverty in the different regions of Peru in the period 2007-2017 developing a per capita dimensional analysis on real and potential mining investment data in time series to estimate the extractive poverty differential applied to each region. The analytical results shows that there is no significant correlation between mining investment, conflicts and regional poverty and identifies a set of differentiated regions where mining activates the regional value chain with medium and long-term economic and social consequences that need to be studied in a segmented.

Keywords : Mining; mining investment; social conflicts; poverty.
