Abstract

The article analyzes the activities of the Education Committee of the Rochdale Pioneers, founders of the modern cooperative movement in England in the 1840s and its implications in improving the living conditions of its fellow members, as well as attitudinal and behavioral changes of those impoverished weavers members. All this, in order to raise some important issues that modern cooperatives, which have enormous resources in their Cooperative Education Funds, should consider when planning their activities.
