RIOS, T. DEL, P. The Ideal of woman according Rousseau. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2016, vol.3, n.1, pp.24-30. ISSN 2409-8752. https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2016.003(01)024-030.
The article propose the ideal of woman which Rousseau sketch out, as opposed to the male, in the context of his book V of the work, Emile or On Education. Although our philosopher has a great influence of Enlightenment of the time, he does not support the rationalism which the society of the time was heading to and thinks the emerging civilization threatens the natural goodness of the person to corrupt it. Because of this, he develops his ideas in a natural environment and outdoor, characterized by the simplicity and the absence of evil. In this sense, the prototype of natural woman that he introduces should be chaste, submissive and modest, ready to consider other opinions and completely dedicated to his family and home. While the male is the archetype of humanity par excellence, he is destined, for nature, to attain virtue in the public domain and thus exert power over women and society.
