This is a 71-year-old female patient with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus undergoing irregular treatment with oral antidiabetics, who came to the emergency department due to abnormal movements of the right hemibody, interpreted as hemiballism with choreic components, with 3 days. of evolution. Nonketotic hyperglycemia is detected in the laboratory and hyperdensity in the caudate and lenticular ganglia on the left side is evidenced on the skull tomography. After adequate glycemic control and low doses of haloperidol, the patient evolved favorably, with a decrease in abnormal movements.
