Introduction:

The doctor, as a professional with competences, needs satisfaction in the quality of life at work, since he constitutes a vital human resource in any organization dedicated to the provision of services. For this, hospital administration strategies must be generated in order to achieve an adequate work environment for institutional development in addition to the physician's personal and social context.

Objective:

To determine the quality of life at work of the doctors of the Hospital Regional of Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay, in 2018

Methodology:

Observational, descriptive, prospective, non-probabilistic, cross-sectional study. Physicians with permanent jobs or contracts from the Hospital Regional of Coronel Oviedo were included. The questionnaire for Quality of Work Life (CVT-GOHISALO) was used. Ethical research standards were respected.

Results:

Eighty-one doctors were included, being 56.79% male. The mean age was 41±9 years and 65.43% was married. They were mostly specialists, had multiple jobs, with few hours of sleep on a usual day, and low administration of their free time. The quality of work life detected was on a medium scale.

Conclusion:

Doctors are capable of achieving well-being through work, they develop personally and are moderately satisfied. They require better institutional support and job security, and they must improve the administration of their free time.
