Abstract

PONTILLO-WALEROVSKY, Marcelo; FERREIRA-POZZI, Martín; WAGNER-TAUSTANOWSKI, Gabriela  and  TROSTCHANSKY-VASCONCELLOS, Iván. Negative pressure as a treatment for mesh exposure following eventroplasty. Cir. parag. [online]. 2022, vol.46, n.1, pp.32-35. ISSN 2307-0420.  https://doi.org/10.18004/sopaci.2022.abril.32.

The aim of our paper is to present the management of two patients presenting with mesh exposure, using negative pressure therapy. The presence of a prosthetic material in a surgical wound, such as a polypropylene mesh, does not contraindicate the use of negative pressure therapy. On the contrary, it favors healing without the need of surgical removal of the mesh.

Keywords : Incisional hernia; Negative pressure wound therapy; Surgical mesh; Postoperative complications; Surgical wound infection.
