Objective: To determine the morbidity and mortality of patients with open abdomen contained with the Bogota bag, in the Servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital Militar Central, period 2015-2021. Methodology: retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study, with a sample of 25 patients in total reviewing the clinical records of patients with a diagnosis of open abdomen. Results: regarding age, the average was 60.52 years, the range was 24 to 84 years, and the standard deviation was ± 12.21 years of age. The distribution by sex was 60% male and 40% female. Another aspect that was analyzed in the study refers to the open abdomen classification according to the Bjork scale described for open abdomen. The most frequently observed type was 4 in 72% of the patients. Mortality in this study was 56%. The remaining group was discharged from hospital. Conclusion: surgical management of the acute abdomen with techniques such as contained laparostomy, whether primary or secondary, is a fairly complex issue due to the multiple comorbidities that can be added to the initial pathological picture, adding to it a high associated mortality.
