Abstract

Objective: To determine the management, diagnosis and treatment of patients with venous insufficiency of the lower limbs in the Hospital Militar Central, during the period 2017-2021. Methodology: Retrospective descriptive study carried out on 118 cases, reviewing the clinical records of patients long or short saphenectomy and / or phlebectomies were performed. Results: the population studied was mostly women, with an average age of 51 ± 14 years. The preponderant risk factor was work activity with the characteristic of prolonged standing. The CEAP with the highest frequency was C2 in 50.8% of the patients included. The most frequently performed surgical technique was long saphenectomy + phlebectomy. Perioperative complications in this type of procedure are rare, representing a total of 5.1%, including bruises, hemorrhages, and infection. Conclusion: The technique of long saphenectomy + phlebectomy is the technique that was used most frequently in the patients included in this study and the one that had the best long-term results.
