The purpose of this work is to determine the operative complications that occurred in the patients. Observational, descriptive, prospective study of a transverse section in a population of 60 patients who underwent surgery for inguinal hernia repair with the Lichtenstein technique, of which 90% were male with an average age of 51 years. The origin was urban area 78.3%. According to the BMI, 62% of the patients were overweight and 13% were obese, 23% of the patients were smokers. The most frequent types of hernias found were indirect Type I and II with 38.3% both according to the Gilbert Classification modified by Rutkow and Robbins. The side with the greatest involvement of the hernia was on the right side, 53.3%, the average surgical time was 48 minutes. Regarding the 24-hour hospital stay, it was the average length of stay of 90% of the patients. Post-operative complications occurred in 7 patients, surgical site infection and seroma both in 2 patients, inguinodynia in 2 patients, and recurrence occurred in 1 patient at 12 months of follow-up (1.67%).
