A descriptive retrospective observational cross-sectional study was conducted in 44 operated patients to determine the incidence of complications in post-operated patients with total thyroidectomy during the period November 2018 to September 2019 in the Surgery Service of the Central Military Hospital, where data were collected from patient files in terms of sex, age and evolution of the patients operated on in that period, it was observed that 9.1% of the total of those operated with the highest prevalence in women presented some complication, of these 4.55% correspond to inadvertent removal of the parathyroid gland and 4.55% to recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, no other complications were evident. The age group with the highest frequency is between 60 and 69 years of age.
