Abstract

GALLI ROMANACH, Marcelo et al. Dermal Matrix in Breast Reconstruction. Cir. parag. [online]. 2020, vol.44, n.2, pp.19-24. ISSN 2307-0420.  https://doi.org/10.18004/sopaci.2020.agosto.19.

Breast reconstruction is part of the integral treatment of breast cáncer from the physical and emotional point of view. The different techniques are indicated depending on the pathological stage the patient’s characteristics and wishes. Silicone implants are absolutely acceptable and offers satisfactory results.

In order to stabilize and protect the prostheses from irradiation or displacements, different autologous or industrialized components have been used, the main difference between the two being the high costs and accessibility.

In this prospective work of 25 immediate or deferred reconstructions due to cancer or prophylactic, we present the idea, development and results of the use of a tissue component obtained from the patient as a coverage and support element in the reconstructions by implants or expanders, as an alternative to animal acellular meshes.

Forty two months later we were able to showcase the benefits techniques, cosmetics results and economic reach by immediately using the autologous dermis as a structural component in reconstructions by inert materials. We demonstrate the effectiveness of said tissue and its complete integration into the organic unit of the reconstructed breast. Percentage ranges similar to international literature regarding complications and good results, which validates their use in selected cases.
