Resumen

Objective:

to describe the clinical manifestations associated with the location of Colon Cancer in patients admitted to the general surgery service of the IPS central hospital during the period from January 2017 to December 2018.

Material and methods:

descriptive, retrospective study using the review of 264 operative files where the following variables were analyzed: age, sex, tumor location, clinical picture and histopathological type.

Results:

of the 264 patients in the sample, 127 patients were operated on for tumors of the right colon corresponding to 51.89%, 96 patients for tumors of the left colon (36.36%), 23 patients for tumors of the transverse colon (8, 71%) and 18 patients with sigmoid rectum tumors, corresponding to 18%. The most frequent age range found for colon cancer was 61 to 70 years.

Conclusion:

colon cancer was found more frequently in males in 51.13% of cases. The predominant age range was 61 to 70 years. The most frequent location was in the right colon (51.8%) than in the left (36.3%).
