Resumen

MUJICA, Luis A. et al. OCCLUSIVE ACUTE ABDOMEN BY BEZOAR IMPACTED IN MECKEL'S DIVERTICULUM. Rev. Cir. Parag. [online]. 2018, vol.42, n.3, pp.32-33. ISSN 2307-0420.  https://doi.org/10.18004/sopaci.2018.diciembre.32-33.

Meckel's diverticulum is described since the early 1800s. It originates from incomplete closure of the omphalomesenteric duct during the fetal stage. It is usually located 100 cm from the ileocecal valve. Bezoars are foreign bodies that originate from non-digestible material that accumulate in the digestive tract. The most common variety is phytobezoar originated from vegetables. We present the case of a 68-year-old patient who came to the emergency room due to compatible symptoms of an acute occlusive abdomen. She was laparotomized and found an impacted phytobezoar at the base of a Meckel diverticulum 80 cm from the ileocecal valve. Intestinal resection and anastomosis were performed with good postoperative evolution without complications.
