ADORNO, Arturo et al. TAPP APPROACH FOR INGUINAL HERNIA. INITIAL EXPERIENCE AT HOSPITAL NACIONAL. Rev. Cir. Parag. [online]. 2017, vol.41, n.1, pp.14-17. ISSN 2307-0420. https://doi.org/10.18004/sopaci.abril.14-17.
Background:
Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair originated in the early 1990s as laparoscopy gained a foothold in general surgery. Inguinal hernias account for 75% of all abdominal wall hernias, and with a lifetime risk of 27% in men and 3% in women. Repair of these hernias is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures in the world.
Objectives:
To describe the surgical technique and the short-term results of inguinal hernioplasty with the TAPP technique.
Patients and Methods:
Longitudinal retrospective study. Data were obtained from the database of the statistics department and from the medical records collected from the archive of patients treated with TAPP laparoscopic hernioplasty at the National Hospital between June 2014 and August 2016. Patient follow-up was performed in the post-operative controls.
Results:
During the study period, 46 laparoscopic hernioplasties were performed consecutively in patients with inguinal hernia diagnosis and in five of them, videolaparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed in patients with inguinal hernia and symptomatic vesicular lithiasis. Complications were recorded postoperatively in 6 patients.
Conclusion:
In our initial experience, the Tapp technique has good results, similar to those described in the literature, and without increasing comorbidity by the addition of simultaneous procedures videolaparoscopic.
