Abstract

RAMIREZ SOTOMAYOR, Julio et al. SYNCHRONOUS LIVER METASTASES OF COLORECTAL CANCER. Rev. Cir. Parag. [online]. 2016, vol.40, n.2, pp.36-37. ISSN 2307-0420.  https://doi.org/10.18004/sopaci.noviembre.36-37.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) accounts for 9.7% of all cancers with 1.4 million new cases diagnosed each year. 19-31% of CRC patients develop colorectal liver metastases, and 23-38% develop extra-hepatic disease1. 15-25% will be presented synchronously and 25-40% will metachronously2.

Surgical resection is the only potentially curative treatment and, in the case of synchronous metastases, the debate is whether to resect simultaneously, before or after the primary tumor3-4.

Keywords : colorectal cancer; liver metastases; synchro-nous; metachronous.
