SUMMARY Hydatid disease is a parasitic zoonosis caused by Echinococcus granulosus, and its larval form is the most common causative agent. It is a public health problem in countries involved in livestock production, such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Peru. Splenic hydatid disease is rare and its incidence is about 2-3,5% according to different authors. This paper reports a case of splenic hydatidosis in Luque’s Regional Hospital.
