Among non-wood forest products, medicinal plants have traditionally been very useful for humans due to the diversity of ailments they can combat, given that they contain substances with healing power. Obtaining these natural and other artificial substances through synthetic chemistry has reduced the interest of the pharmaceutical industry in medicinal plants as suppliers of natural active ingredients for obtaining medicines. However, the ecosystems with the greatest floristic biodiversity on Earth, among which is the Cerrado biome (savannah), are home to a large number of medicinal plant species, whose healing potential cannot be ignored or wasted. Therefore, it is necessary to know which of these species a territory houses to favour both their protection and their rational use. To contribute to this knowledge, in the present study a bibliographic review was carried out, in pharmacology information centres, in relation to a group of 24 medicinal plant species growing in the Cerrado Ecomuseum territory, in the state of Goiás (Brazil). Properties of the involved species are showed. Most of the species have therapeutic properties related to liver, digestive system and respiratory diseases.
