Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the phenological performance of ground cover plants used in the summer and the phytomass production in the soil and climatic conditions of the region of Vacaria, RS. The experiment was conducted in the experimental field of Fepagro Northeast in Vacaria, RS, in the season 2014/2015, with a completely randomized design with four replications and 15 treatments: 1) calopogônio; 2) Sunnhempbreviflora; 3) Sunnhempjuncea; 4) Sunnhempochroleuca; 5) Sunnhempspectabilis; 6) jack; 7) pigeon pea beans; 8) dwarf pigeon pea beans; 9) lab lab; 10) millet; 11) mucuna dwarf; 12) mucuna gray; 13) velvet bean; 14) soy perennial; 15) witness (soil). Phenological parameters: emergence date and plant height. Productivity evaluation: green mass and dry mass. Statistical analysis Tukey test 5%. The Sunnhempjuncea species, jack beans, lab lab, millet were those that had initial rapid growth. The pigeon pea beans species and millet had higher average height. The millet species was the one that produced the greenest mass. Dry matter production was higher in the pigeon pea species. Considering the productions of green and dry mass, the most productive are millet, followed by pigeon peas and lab lab.
