The objective was to analyze the competitiveness of exports of soybeans and beef in natura in Paraguay in the period 2005 to 2013. To measure competitiveness model Revealed Comparative Advantage Index was used using the base data from the Central Bank of Paraguay (for agricultural products), UNcomtrade (exports of soybeans and beef), and the World Trade Organization (for total of world agricultural exports). International trade in beef has undergone changes over time, either by diseases like FMD and BSE as well as the effect of the global economic crisis. Paraguay has increased its share in the production and export of beef, which has the most important destinations in Brazil, Lebanon and Chile (beef in chilled natura) and the Russian Federation, Israel and Angola (beef in frozen natura). Grain export in soybean production has allocated mainly to Argentina, Uruguay and the European Union. Paraguay has revealed comparative advantage for commodity soybeans and beef (frozen and chilled) in all study periods.
