Resumen

MENDOZA, Amalio  y  NOLDIN, Orlando. Genetic divergence among genotypic of sunflower. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.1, pp.1-7. ISSN 2305-0683.  https://doi.org/10.18004/investig.agrar.2016.junio.1-7.

Genetic variability is important for sunflower breeding because it is one of the basic principles for generating /obtaining genetic gains in the development of new hybrids or open-pollination varieties. The objective of this work was to determine genetic divergence of 25 sunflower genotypes each of which belonged to different companies. The experiment was carried out at the Campo Experimental de Choré of the Instituto Paraguayo de Tecnología Agraria (CECH - IPTA) applying a random block design, with 25 treatments and three repetitions. Treatments were determined by the different sunflower genotypes. The following variables were evaluated: Grain yield, plant height, inflorescence diameter. Significant differences in plant height and inflorescence diameter were found among  different  genotypes. Genotypes 24, 21, 13 and 15 were found to be the least similar ones whereas genotypes  3, 9, 10, 11 and 14 were the most similar ones. Two groups were formed based on the population dendrogram representative of the 25 genotypes, being genotype 25 the most divergent one. Plant height and inflorescence diameter accounted for the greatest genetic divergence among genotypes.
