ARRUA ALVARENGA1*, Andrea Alejandra et al. Incidence of fungi from the Fusarium graminearum complex and accumulation of Deoxynivalenol in strains of wheat. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2014, vol.16, n.1, pp.43-48. ISSN 2305-0683.

Fungi members of the Fusarium graminearum complex are one of the main problems in wheat crops worldwide because they cause loss of yield and produce mycotoxins harmful to human and animal health. The most effective method for the solution of these problems is to avoid contamination of the crops. Currently there are no varieties with total resistance to these pathogens. It is important to identify varieties that show potential for the development of resistance in breeding programs. Fifteen advanced lines from the Wheat Research Program from Captain Miranda were studied in vitro; all of them naturally infected with Fusarium graminearum complex in the field. Fungi incidence and accumulation of Deoxynivalenol were analyzed for variance and means were compared using Tukey test and Spearman correlation. Two varieties with type III potential resistance and three with type V potential resistance were identified. No correlation was found between the incidence of the Fusarium graminearum complex in vitro and the accumulation of Deoxynivalenol.
