It was analyzed the profile of beef consumers and it was determined the consumption of certified meat, with the objective of obtaining relevant data regarding the degree of appreciation of meat certification at purchase time. It was also evaluated the degree of awareness by beef consumers in terms of different certification programs and sought to determine the feasibility of obtaining an eventual premium of meat from these programs. The research was conducted by applying questionnaires to people in strategic points around places selling the products. The Asuncion city consumer has little to no knowledge about certification schemes; however, a small proportion would be willing to pay an extra price (5%) for beef that prove to be of high quality and reliable certifications to ensure the precedence, quality and food safety
