Resumen

MACHADO1, Verónica. Productivity and adaptability of Avati Morotî floury maize cultivars. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.2, pp.75-81. ISSN 2305-0683.

With the objective to identify improved cultivars of Avati Morotî floury maize, with wide adaptability based on evaluation through different production zones, and its relation with characters affecting yield, data collected from seven cultivars evaluated in five environments in the 2006/07 season, were analyzed. Combined analysis of the Genotype by Environment (GE) interaction under the RCBD was carried out, and correlation coefficients between all possible pairs of traits were calculated. Estimation of stability parameters for yield was done according with the Eberhart and Russell model. Results showed a low GE interaction, although there were differences among the environments and differential performance of the cultivars with changing environments. AMTavapy was the only cultivar that showed good adaptability and yield. NGV2 MH C1 and Guarani V 252 were classified as desirable cultivars due to their high yield across environments. Increase of productivity applying one cicle of half sib recurrent selection was confirmed. It was found that characters which showed high and positive correlation with yield and to be considered in the proccess of selection for this character were ears per plant, hectolitric weigh, number of kernel rows, kernel percentage and 100 seeds weigh.

Palabras clave : Genotype environment interaction,; correlation,; floury type maize breeding.
