Resumen

QUINTANA DE VIEDMA, Lidia et al. New varieties of high-yielding wheat. Caninde 11, Caninde 12, Caninde 13. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.1, pp.51-53. ISSN 2305-0683.

Plant breeding has been very effective in overcoming the drawbacks caused by the various factors that affect the productivity of wheat in Paraguay. Between 2006 and 2009 three genetic materials from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) were re-introduced and locally selected (Instituto Paraguayo de Tecnología Agraria, Centro de Investigaciones Capitán Miranda). The genetic materials were named with registers E-2023, E-2027 and E-2028. The lines were included in regional yield trials at three locations: Capitan Miranda, Department of Itapúa, Yguazu, Department of Alto Paraná and Yhovy, Department of Canindeyú, representing different agro-ecological conditions. In 2010, the three genotypes were selected for earliness, yield potential, resistance to leaf rust and industrial quality and received the name of Canindé 11, Canindé 12, and Canindé 13, respectively. The new varieties were registered in the National Register of Protected Plant and on the National Register of Commercial Cultivars at the Servicio Nacional de Calidad y Sanidad Vegetal y de Semillas (SENAVE) and subsequently released commercially. The aim of this paper is to describe the characteristics of these new varieties of wheat.

Palabras clave : Triticum aestivum; Canindé 11; Canindé 12; Canindé 13.
