This study was to evaluate the effect of two aqueous extracts of the Meliaceae Azadirachta indica A. Juss and Melia azedarach L. on mites of the genus Tetranychus spp. The experiment was conducted at the Department of Plant Protection, Division of Entomology, de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, Universidad Nacional de Asunción, under controlled conditions of temperature 25 ± 5 °C, humidity 70 ± 5% and 12 hours light . Mites reared on bean pots (Vigna unguiculata), were transferred to Petri dishes, which contained leaf discs 3 cm in diameter previously dipped in the different extracts of Meliaceae whith doses of 1, 5 and 10 g in 100 mL of distilled water and an absolute control. The measured variable was the mortality of mites. Evaluations were performed at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after application of the extracts. Extracts of A. indica and M. azedarach showed acaricidal effect on Tetranychus spp. The highest dose of A. indica and M. azedarach were most effective in the control of Tetranychus spp. The A. indica and M. azedarach showed better efficacy on Tetranychus spp at 96 hours.
