Abstract
ENCISO GARAY, Cipriano Ramón and ROMAN GALEANO, César Alberto. Plantation´s seasons and their effects on the production and quality of three varieties of onion´s bulb´s. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2011, vol.13, n.1, pp.19-25. ISSN 2305-0683.
It was evaluated yield bulb of three onion varieties, in response to four transplantation times considered late for the Central Department. The work was conducted at the Centro Hortifrutícola of the Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, Universidad Nacional de Asunción, San Lorenzo, Paraguay, between the months of March and November, 2007. The varieties evaluated were: Baía Periforme Común, Valenciana Precoz and Red Creole. Transplantation times were: 07/06/07, 22/06/07, 07/07/07 and 21/07/07. The experimental design was randomized complete blocks, with Split-plot and six repetitions, where the main plot consisted of the onion varieties and sub plots were transplant times. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and regression, means were compared using Tukey test at 5% error probability. There was interaction between varieties and transplantation time for number of leaf, bulb weight and yield. The varieties Valenciana Precoz and Red Creole had higher bulb weight and yield, in the first and second period, while the Baia Periforme Común in the first period. Among the studied varieties, Baia Periforme Común was the most productive, followed by Valenciana Precoz and Red Creole. It was observed that the yield and production cycle of varieties shortened with the delay of transplantation time.
