Abstract

The experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Phytopathology, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Universidad Nacional de Asunción, with the objetive of determining the efficiency of natural products in the control of seed-borne fungi pathogens of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and their effect on germination. The experimental design was completely random, with 12 treatments Witness, Trichoderma lignorum (formulated), Garlic (Allium sativum), Yvopé (Gleditsia amorphoides), Lemon (Citrus limon), Mint (Mentha arvensis), Garlic-Yvopé, Garlic-Lemon, Garlic-Mint, Yvopé-Lemon, Yvopé-Mint, Lemon-Mint, and 10 repetitions. For each treatment, the seeds were immersed in the solution of the extracts for ten minutes with constant stirring and seeded on PDA medium contained in Petri dishes. Seeds treated with Trichoderma lignorum (commercial product) the recommended dose of the commercial product (100g/1000kg seed).Seeds treated with the extract showed greater percentage yvopé infected seeds. Wheat seeds treated with garlic extract mix - mint had the lowest percentage of fungi infection. Garlic extract developing controlled not Bipolaris sorokiniana (Syn. Helminthosporium sativum), this being the relevant phytopathogenic fungi was observed in most of the seeds of the batch, which was previously tested. Yvope extract controlled development of Bipolaris sorokiniana. The mixture of extracts of garlic-yvopé and lemon-yvopé, controlled development Bipolaris sorokiniana. Plant extracts and Trichoderma lignorum (formulated) didn´t affect the germination of seeds.
