ENCISO GARAY, Cipriano Ramón  e  CASTILLO ECHEVERRIA, Fernando María. Vegetative propagation of Jatropha curcas L. by cuttings. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.2, pp.69-73. ISSN 2305-0683.

Jatrophacurcas L. is a specie that in the last years has aroused interest among farmers, producers and businessmen in Paraguay due to the high oil content in its seeds, which gives good qualities for the production of biodiesel. With the objective of evaluate the effect of different lengths of cuttings on vegetative propagation of Jatrophacurcas L., it has conducted this experiment in a greenhouse at the Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, Universidad Nacional de Asunción, San Lorenzo - Paraguay, between the months of September and November, 2009. The used experimental design was completely at random with four replications. The treatments were the different lengths of cuttings: T1 = 20 cm, T2 = 25 cm, T3 = 30 cm, T4 and T5 = 35 cm = 40 cm. The data were submited to analysis of variance, means comparison by Tukey test and regression analysis. The results show that the number of roots per cutting and sprouting percentage were not influenced by treatments. The shoot lengths of the aerial part and of the root is proportional to the stakes lengths. For dry mass of the aerial part, the cuttings of 25 and 30 cm led to the highest average, while for the root dry mass of cuttings from 20 to 30 cm.
