VERGARA OCAMPO, Francisco A  y  ENCISO GARAY, Cipriano Ramón. Characterization of collections and accessions of Jatropha curcas L., by phenological and agronomic studies. Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.1, pp.47-53. ISSN 2305-0683.

To characterize the phenological and agronomical performance of the germplasm collection of Jatropha curcas L., of the Centro Tecnológico Agropecuario del Paraguay (CETAPAR), located in the district of Yguazú, Alto Paraná Department, Paraguay, was carried out this evaluation between the months of January - July, 2009. The method used for the agronomical evaluations was the Random Sampling with 15 treatments and five repetitions. The phenological evaluations were realized in descriptive mode. The collection is composed of clonal hybrids planted in 2007, coming from collection of paraguayan and brazilian localities; besides accessions of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. It was evaluated the fruit yield per plant, middle weight of dry fruits, seed number per fruit, relation fruit-seed and seeds yield per plant. It had registered the flowering time and duration of the harvest period of the different materials. The statistical results show that for all agronomic variables evaluated there are differences between materials. The higher yields of fruits and seeds were obtained in materials of Caraguatay and Oracilia. Furthermore, Caraguatay presented the fruits with higher number of seeds and dry weigh. The highest percentage of seeds in relation to the fruit was observed in the Filomena accession. The harvest period reached eleven weeks, excepting to the harvest of Santa Rosa del Aguaray, which was harvested during nine weeks
