ESPINOLA RAMIREZ, Christian Javier  e  PANIAGUA ALCARAZ, Pedro Luis. Determination of yield and forage quality of Brachiariaspecies growing on soils derived from granite . Investig. Agrar. [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.1, pp.05-10. ISSN 2305-0683.

With the objectives to determine and identify the specie of the Brachiaria gender wich presents the best efficiency in its productive performance and forage quality in granite soil, was developed this study at the district of Sapucai of the department of Paraguari, Paraguay the experiment lasted from october 2009 to may 2010. It has been implanted 16 plots of 12 m2 in a complete random blocks design, with 4 treatments and 4 repetitions, being the treatments: T1: B. brizantha cv. MG4; T2: B. brizantha cv. MG5; T3: B. decumbens and T4: B. humidicola. For the interpretation of the results were done the variance analysis and they comparations by the Tukey test, also was used the regression analysis in the cases who deserved. The measured parameters were: emerged seedlings, plants height, soil cover, Dry Matter (DM) production, and as forage quality indicator leaf/stem ratio and Brute Protein (BP) percentage. The B. decumbens was the forage with greatest number of emerged seedlings; the greatest hight was observed in the B. brizantha cv. MG5; in the soil cover, it were not observed significant differences between the B. brizanhtas (MG4 y MG5) and B. decumbens; the greatest yield of dry matter (DM) was obtein by the B. brizantha cv. MG5; respects of forage quality, the best leaf/stem ratio was observed in the B. brizantha cv. MG5; regarding the percentage of crude protein (CP), there were not observed significant differences

Palavras-chave : Brachiaria; Seedlings; dry matter; crude protein.
