Resumen

SOTO, Carmiña. Development and validation of an instrument to measure the methodological quality of master's and doctoral theses. Rev. Int. Investig. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2021, vol.17, n.2, pp.357-378. ISSN 2226-4000.  https://doi.org/10.18004/riics.2021.diciembre.357.

The objective of this research was to develop and validate a stable instrument that allows evaluating the methodological quality of the theses. A descriptive, documentary design with an analytical and cross-sectional component was used and the validation was carried out with 10 theses. The instrument has 24 ítems and 7 dimensions, the expert validation index was 0.81 considered good, the reliability of the instrument measured by Cronbach's Alpha was 0.789, and the validity of the internal structure calculated with the r of Pearson showed a positive correlation and greater than 0.5 between ítems and the total, which indicates that the ítems are consistent. It is concluded that it is possible to apply the same instrument both for research carried out under the positivist and constructivist paradigm, as well as for all areas of science.
