Abstract

QUITRAL ROJAS, Máximo. Bolivian geographical closure: four scenarios to understand this condition, 1970-1990. Rev. Int. Investig. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2014, vol.10, n.2, pp.181-196. ISSN 2226-4000.

This paper seeks to put in order the main assumptions that have been in the discussed on access to the sea for Bolivia. First, four explanatory hypotheses that address the geographic confinement of Bolivia will be discussed, then it will be exposed a brief explanation of what is meant by International Political Economy (IPE) to finally discuss the role assumed by economic relations between the countries studied. The hypothesis held is that economic relations have persisted over time, even when political relations are frozen.
