Abstract: The politic, economic and social atmosphere that Paraguay has lived since last year are the scene that the divers actors that have the responsibility to carry out the nationals publics politics reveal, into the speech and in the action, their conception about the country. Topics like the national question, the paraguayan’s people formation, the state-nation’s creation, the management of public property and the cultural identity aren’t new in the Paraguayan history. A analysis of the poet and soldier Emimiano R. Fernández’s work and we identify elements of a Paraguayan cultural nationalism in the Chaco’s war context. In the first part we present some analysis’ elements of the current sociopolitical situation, then some theoretical considerations about the nationalism topic and finally, an analysis about specific works by the Paraguayan poet to light of generally accepted concepts about the national question and we identity elements of Paraguayan cultural nationalism into the work that we consider more representative of the epic poetry by Emiliano R. Fernández
