Abstract

We present an analysis of documents relating to cultural diversity and multiculturalism in the context of formal education in Paraguay, being located in the period of democratic transition. In this context, formulated the following objectives: To specify the ethnic and cultural situation of the Paraguayan nation in the democratic process that exists; To investigate the strategies and actions that are taken up and promoted institutionally to the practice of multiculturalism in the educational environment and identify the endogenous factors that hinder the realization education and multiculturalism. In a culture granitic closed, the silence in the days of dictatorship is passed to the recognition of cultural diversity of the Paraguayan nation and a conception of the state regulator and protector of cultural rights in all its manifestations. This new scenario conducive to intercultural democratic between different cultures but lack incorporate isolated cultures, minority or excluded to the national culture.
