Abstract

TRULLS, HE et al. RUMEN DEGRADATION OF DRY MATTER OF CHANÉ GRASS (Paspalum guenoarum) IN GOATS IN DIFFERENT SEASONS OF THE YEAR. Compend. cienc. vet [online]. 2018, vol.8, n.2, pp.31-35. ISSN 2226-1761.  https://doi.org/10.18004/compend.cienc.vet.2018.08.02.31-35.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the ruminal degradability of the dry matter (DDM) of Pasto Chané, in goats in different seasons of the year. The DM degradation kinetics of this grass was determinated by the in situ ruminal digestion technique, in 4 male goats castrated with ruminal fistula, samples of 3 grams of forage were incubated in each season. The data was analyzed with SAS and Infostat statistical programs. The ANOVA did not show significant differences for the different incubation hours in the different seasons of the year, the DDM had values between 50.22 and 60.4% in the three seasons studied. Effective degradability (P) did not show significant variations in the three seasons of the year analyzed, although it registered a higher value in spring. For the potential DM degradability of this pasture (a + b), values of 49.9% were obtained in autumn and a maximum of 58.72% in spring. It is concluded that the DDM of Pasto Chane did not vary during the three seasons of the year analyzed, for which it is estimated that it maintained its nutritional quality, highlighting the use of this resource in the studied seasons.
