SZWAKO, A et al. NEEM (Azadirachta indica) AND IVERMECTIN 1% COMPARATIVE EFFECT ON GASTROINTESTINAL PARASITARY INFESTATION IN CATTLE. Compend. cienc. vet [online]. 2017, vol.7, n.1, pp.25-28. ISSN 2226-1761.  https://doi.org/10.18004/compend.cienc.vet.2017.07.01.25-28.

A comparative study of Neem (Azadirachta indica) and 1% Ivermectin effects on gastrointestinal parasite burden in cattle was carried out in an establishment located in Misiones Department. A total of 30 Brangus weaned calf, in direct grazing without rotation, were divided into two groups of 15 individuals, experimental and control respectively. The initial parasite burden of selected animals was determined and treatment started providing the experimental group with Neem dehydrated leaves (10g/animal/day) mixed with mineral salt (50g/animal/day) for 60 days. The control group was treated with 1% ivermectin subcutaneously at 0.2 mg/kg dose. Samples were obtained from both groups, with 15 days intervals until complete 5 sampling. Fecal samples were processed by the Mc. Master method. Results were analyzed by the T-Student method for independent samples from the same population. It was verified with a confidence level of 99% (p> 0.01) that there is no significant difference in the parasitic load (egg per gram / EPG) between the experimental and control groups.
