KOZA, GA et al. WINTER SUPPLEMENTATION WITH OIL SEEDS IN THREE-PIECE COURTS OF CUTTING. Compend. cienc. vet [online]. 2016, vol.6, n.2, pp.20-27. ISSN 2226-1761.  https://doi.org/10.18004/compend.cienc.vet.2016.06.02.20-27.

ABSTRACT. The influence of winter protein-energy supplementation with oilseeds, on rearing heifers, on productive, reproductive and biochemical variables was evaluated. Ninety animals, of three breeds (Bradford, Brangus and Limusin), were distributed in three lots (10 of each breed). During the first winter, one received soybean seeds (SS: 2.60 kg / animal / day), another one of cotton (SA: 2.40 kg / animal / day) and the third officiated control (CN: without supplement). In the second winter, only SA was used as ration, with the lots remaining separate.Lipid profile assessments, weighings and measurements were performed monthly. At the end of each winter, the heifers were monitored by transrectal ultrasonography. An experimental design was used in randomized complete blocks (block factor = breed, treatment = diet-supplement). The racial factor did not influence the variables explored. Body weight, body condition and daily and final weight gains were greater in lots SA and SS. The thoracic perimeter and height at the hip were not statistically modified. Total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL cholesterol revealed increases in the supplemented lots, as did the width, length and ovarian circumference. Oilseed supplementation optimized body growth, blood lipids and ovarian development.
