Resumen

ABSTRACT. The lakes are ecosystems of high biological productivity around the world, being the fish community of floodplain rivers and lakes dominated by groups of species migratory and rheophilic. Human activities generate negative impacts on water bodies, affecting fish fauna, so the Ypacarai lake was studied on two sampling points (Areguá and San Bernardino) during the period 2008-2012, through fishnets with different meshes opening were used further trawls coast net, fine mesh frame, trotlines. Taxonomic identification was performed with bibliographic media, the images obtained with digital camera. Fishing gear generated 79 species representing different trophic links; displayed abundant taxa of the class Osteichthyes, Order Siluriformes followed Characiformes, Perciformes, and fewer Gymnotiformes, Clupeiformes, Rajiformes, Beloniformes and Pleuronectiformes. Regarding larger families Loricariidae presence was noticed then Tetragonopteridae and sequentially accompanied Pimelodidade, Cichlidae, Doradidae then Serrasalminae, Rhamphichthyidae, Scianidae and finally Potamotrygonidae Callichthyidae, Erythrinidae, Clupeidae, Engraulidae, Apteronotidae, Auchenipteridae e Hypophthalmidae. Whereas with a focus on fisheries, the study revealed the representation of species important for recreational, commercial and subsistence fishing, and catching fish fodder.
